LANSING – State Representative Richard E. Hammel (D-Mt. Morris Township) will hold a meeting of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development on Monday, May 4, at 10:30 a.m. at Kettering University in Flint.
"With the economic development potential that Genesee County offers, it's exciting to hold this meeting at Kettering. Fuel cell development and programs such as TechWorks have proven Kettering to be a leader in research and development throughout the state," said Hammel, Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development. "It's important that the members of this key subcommittee come out to see first-hand that the Flint area is a leader in alternative energy technologies. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there."
The meeting will be held on Monday, May 4, at 10:30 a.m. at the Campus Center Building, Room A, on Kettering's campus. On the agenda for the meeting is Michigan's future energy plan and how funds from the federal stimulus plan are being used in new programs such as energy block grants. The committee also plans to take up departmental overviews as part of an effort to ensure transparency and accountability in state government.
Residents are invited to attend, and if they wish, speak at the meeting. Individuals who wish to speak in front of the committee and prepare a written testimony are asked to supply a minimum of 10 copies for distribution.
